Katie-noMark-3

Hello I’m Katie Poushpom. I am an Irish Dramaturg and Playwright. The basis of my dramaturgical work is editing, translations (Gaeilge), multi disciplinary collaborations and creative development for upcoming playwrights. As a Dramaturg, I specified my techniques through a process of subversion and reconfiguration, in an effort to analyse the text or theatrical piece that is then reconstructed harmoniously for the artist and audience.

I gained my Honours BA in D.B.S in Dublin, Ireland. And a Masters Degree from Goldsmiths University of London, London.

After years of studying and working within the theatre industry, I realised that I was deeply unsatisfied with the work I was creating and did what any normal person would do and ran away with wolves. Well maybe not wolves, but then decided to step away from the conventional theatre world and delve into theatre that is unashamedly out there. Enthusiastically blasting the stage doors to adapt and produce new forms of theatre-making.

I have been described as weird, random and that I smell nice. I prefer words like magnificent, marvellous and mega, all the m’s. One of my goals in life is to become best friends with Caryl Churchill and RuPaul, and all three of us would be called the super friend club.

I love all things Art, I regularly visit museums and ignore the information about the piece and the artist, instead make up my own story. I love reading dictionaries and then inserting my newly found archaic words into conversations with strangers.

I have recently set up the artistic organisation called TheatreBound©. TheatreBound© is an artistic entity dedicated to exploring new ideas of how we create and view theatre. Instead of writing up reports TheatreBound© puts forth practical challenges, one of which is Time Vs. The Playwright, 7 Plays in 7 Days and Dollamine Adaptions©. For more info you can visit the facebook page https://www.facebook.com/theatreboundallround?fref=ts

With this blog I vow, by the power of the theatre Gods, to write up posts on time, to insert pictures of interest and not just out of randomness and articulate the strange tapestry of my theatre work, even if I feel the plastic keyboard is ruining my art buzz.
